Abstract
The topic of (Al-Numan bin Bashir Al-Ansari, a historical
study) has gained great importance based on the role played
by Al-Numan bin Bashir Al-Ansari in the course of historical
events, whether at the scientific and literary level or at the
political, military and administrative level, in addition to
being one of the poles of the supporters. His scientific role
was represented in the novel Speaking and addressing
jurisprudence, in addition to poetry and rhetoric, through
his narration of the noble Prophet’s hadith, and he is active
in jurisprudence. On the one hand, and on the other hand, he
had an administrative role in the Rashidun era. Perhaps Abu
Baker's reliance on him along with a number of other
companions in collecting the alms of the people of Yemen is
the best proof of this.
Abu Baker sought to bring him and his father closer to take
advantage of them and obtain the support of their tribe, and
the matter continued in the same manner during the era of
both Abu Baker and Umar, up to the Umayyad era, when
Muawiyah and his son Yazid took over several states,
including Kufa and Homs. Othman bin Affan, or in inciting
against Imam Ali when he took Othman's shirt to Muawiyah
so that the latter would take it as an excuse to incite people
to fight the Imam.
The necessity of the research required that the study be
divided into three chapters preceded by an introduction and
followed by a conclusion
We devoted the second chapter to his role in the Rashidun
era, and divided into two sections, the first when he played
his role in the caliphate of Abu Bakr, Omar Ibn Al-Khattab
and Othman Ibn Affan .
The third chapter was divided into three sections, the first
was a discussion of his administrative role, the second was
the political role, and the third, we singled out the most
important privileges that Nu'man bin Bashir obtained as a
result of his service to the Umayyads.
And then came the conclusion, in which we record the
most important findings of the study, of course, in light of
the available sources Al-Numan bin Bashir was interested in
many scientific aspects through which he gained an
important place, including his narration of the noble hadith,
despite the differences of historians about his hearing the
hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In
poetry, he was also interested in rhetoric and was creative in
it and employed it for his personal interests and the
interests of the Umayyad state. Also, al-Nu'man bin Bashir's
loyalty to the Umayyads did not prevent him from getting
closer to the Shiites, as evidenced by the marriage of his
daughter, Umrah, to Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaidah al-Thaqaf
Al-Nu'man bin Bashir's personality was strong and he could
influence everyone with his style, and sometimes he used
the method of piety in order to preserve himself and his
position, as he did with the people of Kufa when Muslim Ibn
Aqil reached them.
Al-Nu'man bin Bashir's personality was not stable, but
rather tended wherever the political forces tended according
to his interests, so we found him sometimes standing with
the Umayyad state at the height of its prosperity, and at
other times supporting its enemies.
