Abstract
This study dealt with an important grammatical phenomenon, which is the phenomenon of abbreviation in Arabic grammar, which constituted a prominent feature of the Arabic language , The Arabs tend to a lot in their conversational performance, and their communicative speech.
Therefore, it did not happen in their words arbitrarily, rather it happened according to deliberative dimensions , Grammarians have stated some of them, and from this point of view, the treatise bears the title: (The Phenomenon of Abbreviation in Arabic Grammar and Its Pragmatic Dimensions); The researcher believes in the importance of the deliberative method in studying this phenomenon.
The methodology of the thesis necessitated that it be in three chapters, located between an introduction and a conclusion: The introduction was in the concept of abbreviation and its causes.
As for the chapters, the first of them is devoted to talking about (abbreviation for grammarians, and its relationship to some other grammatical terms) , And it was in two topics .
The second was entitled (Deliberative Abbreviation by Substitution), and it also included two topics The third came under the title (Deliberative abbreviation by deletion), and it had three sections.
Among the most important findings of the study from the results is that the abbreviation is a phenomenon that cannot be denied , It has its actual presence at the level of seating and use together , Also, using it in speak may be more explicit than
leaving it , As in our saying: I bought a book and sold a book, this may be a reason for confusion that the first book is not the second, and abbreviating it would remove that confusion, so our saying: I bought a book and sold it is more explicit than the first. And other results
