Abstract

The study of personalities who played various roles in the political, military, economic and social aspects has attracted great attention, especially the political ones, as a result of their important and distinct roles in creating the historical events of their countries. This type of study has become beset by many difficulties, due to the differences in opinions about these personalities and their role, and political and sectarian differences, and therefore We must be careful and adhere to neutrality, for fear of slipping into favoritism and bias. Hence our choice of the subject of the study (Moragi Desai and the political cycle in India until 1980), which is an attempt by the researcher to shed light on this personality with some kind of brevity because of the great impact he left on the history of India in particular and the world in general in making important decisions in the history of India. As he was one of India's fighters, he was imprisoned more than once because of his struggle, and he continued to do so until 1947. He assumed many ministries such as Interior, Finance, Trade, and Industry. Moraji then played a major role in India's foreign policy due to his efforts in resolving political disputes with China through peaceful means until his resignation in 1979. The first chapter focused on the role of Moraji Desai, his life and his role in the Indian independence movement 1896-1947. The first section focused on Moraji’s private life and education. The second section focused on Moraji and his early political activity from 1914-1930, where the study focused on Moraji’s roles in this period that witnessed the World War. The first focused on the positions held by Desai in the states of India. The third topic focused on the role of Moraji Desai in the national movement 1930-1947. This study focused on the role of Moraji in the national movement, as he was imprisoned more than once because of his joining the Quit India movement. The second chapter was entitled: (The position of Moraji Desai on the problems of the Indian border and the liberation of Goa 1947-1963) The first section that came was concerned with (The problem of the Indian-Pakistani border and Moraji Desai’s position on it 1947-1949). The chapter focused on the roles and positions of Moraji in the problem of the border between the two countries and tried to recover these areas even if By military force. As for the second section, it was (the Sino-Indian border war and Moraji Desai’s position on it, 1961-1963). The section focused on Moraji Desai’s position on resolving foreign issues through peaceful means and the language of dialogue and negotiations, and the third section was entitled (The Liberation of Goa and Moraji Desai’s position on it, 1962-1963). Desai was interested in recovering the island through peaceful means. As for the third chapter, it was entitled (Moraji Desai, from taking over the ministries to the political conflict with Indira Gandhi 1956-1976). The chapter was divided into three sections, the first of which was entitled (Moraji’s reform projects under his administration of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry 1956-1957), as Moraji carried out many reforms. In these ministries, the second (his reforms in the Ministry of Finance 1958-1962) and the third topic was entitled (Internal Political Competition. Between Moraji and Indira Gandhi 1966-1976) and this topic focused on disputes and conflicts. Between Moraji and Indira. The fourth chapter came. Titled. (Moragi Desai from Prime Minister to resignation 1977-1980) It is divided into three sections. The first was titled (The Moraji Desai government and the administration of Indian affairs 1977-1980), as the research focused on the reforms of the Moraji Desai government. The second topic was entitled (Indian-American-Soviet relations under the Moraji Desai government 1977-1980). This topic focused on the development of relations with the American side and the Soviet Union, and the third topic was entitled (The internal challenges that faced the Moraji government from its formation to its resignation 1977-1980).
