Abstract

Abstract This study is titled (Al-Dowasir tribe and its role in the history of Bahrain until 1928), as the Al-Dowasir tribe has a very great weight in Bahrain, and it is even the second largest tribe after the Al Khalifa rulers of Bahrain, and it had a major role in establishing two cities Which make up Bahrain and they are (Budaiya and Zallaq), so we chose to study an important tribe that played a pioneering role in the formation of Bahrain. As for our determination of the period for the end of the study in 1928, this year represents the return of the Dowasir tribe to Bahrain after it was previously deported by Britain in 1923, so we concluded the study after their return to it again. ‏ The importance of choosing our topic lies in the fact that it is apparently one of the first academic studies that focused on the non-ruling tribe in the study area, through which we tried to highlight the important role of the Dowasir tribe in the history of Bahrain in various political, economic and social aspects, realizing that their contributions have a fundamental role In the progress and development of Bahrain as a state later on, in fact, Al-Dowasir was a strong supporter of Al Khalifa in this regard. ‏ The researcher divided the subject of his study into an introduction and four chapters that included ten topics, in addition to appendices that were relevant to the study. ‏ The first chapter bore a main title (the relative roots of the Dowasir tribe and their migration towards Bahrain). The chapter was divided into two sections: the first of which included (the relative roots of the Dowasir tribe). As for the second topic, it was (Al-Dowasir tribe: its settlement in Najd and its migration towards Bahrain), and it included many axes as well. ‏ While the second chapter was devoted to (the economic and social contributions of the Al-Dowasir tribe and their role in establishing the cities of Budaiya and Al-Zallaq), which included three topics, the first topic reviewed (the contributions of Al-Dowasir in the economic aspects), and the third topic was devoted to (the establishment of Al-Dowasir for the cities of Budaiya and Al-Zallaq). . ‏ As for the third chapter of the study, it was entitled (The role of the Dowasir tribe in the political events in Bahrain and their displacement from it in 1923). While the second topic bore a title (the displacement of the Dowasir tribe from Bahrain in 1923) and included two main points, the first focused on the causes of displacement, while the second point dealt with the displacement processes. ‏ The fourth and final chapter is devoted to the study of the topic (Al-Dowasir tribe from deportation until their return in 1928 and the position of Britain and the Sheikh of Bahrain on the issue of their return), as it was divided into three topics: the first of which came under the title (Al-Dowasir in the Najd lands and the impact of their deportation on Al-Budaiya). As for the second topic, we mentioned (the results of the displacement of Al-Dowasir from Bahrain in the first point, while the second point focused on the factors that prompted the Al-Dowasir tribe to think about returning to Bahrain), while the last topic of the third chapter dealt with (the position of Britain and the Sheikh of Bahrain on the issue of return Al-Dowasir to Bahrain and their return to it in 1928), and we concluded the fourth chapter with the results that resulted from the return of Al-Dowasir to Bahrain. ‏ As for the scientific content of the study, the researcher relied on multiple types of sources that varied between unpublished documents, academic theses and dissertations, Arabic and Arabized books, as well as research published in magazines and some newspapers. Websites and articles published in them also had a share of the study. It is not possible to overlook the role of some members of the Dowasir tribe in providing the researcher with some sources, especially the author Ibrahim Rashid Al-Dosari, who provided the researcher with his author (Al-Badi` Habibat Al-Shams). The study contained a (conclusion) in which the researcher presented the most important results he reached with regard to the subject of his study. The Al-Dowasir tribe possessed a distinctive characteristic represented by its ability to adapt to the conditions that this tribe is going through, and it can even settle down and establish settlements and residential villages in every area in which it settles, just as the settlement of a tribe in Bahrain was not a mere coincidence, as their orientation was to this The region and their stability in it is a deliberate trend, and there are many reasons behind it, foremost of which is the economic factor. Also, the Al-Dowasir tribe possessed a prominent social position in its relations, whether inside or outside Bahrain. The Al-Dowasir tribe was one of the first groups in rejecting the measures of British policy in Bahrain And that is by standing in the face of the alleged British reforms, which were nothing but a reformist front for a colonial content. And Budaiya economically owned many farms and palm groves, as its land became barren as a result of its farmers moving away from their lands. Socially, the councils that were held by the people of Budaiya disappeared, and even the most prominent sheikhs were deported to the Najd lands.
